Congratulations to EQB client Zayat Stables LLC for its recent wins at Churchill Downs
Zayat Stables' horses had great success on the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby undercards at Churchill Downs last week. ZeeZee, a $50,000 two year old purchase won the prestigious Edgewood Stakles with Kent Desormeaux in the irons. The filly, trained by Bill Mott, is Florida-bred by Exchange Rate out of a Dynaformer mare. She took the lead early on and kept it the enitre race, winning by 1 3/4 lengths. Baroness Thatcher, ridden by John Velazquez , just barely lost the Grade One Humana Distaff Stakes by a nose in a photo finish after a wide trip and gutsy thrilling stretch drive. And, their filly Pious Ashley, trained by Dale Romans, had an impressive win in the 12th race with Kent Desormeaux up. Side Bar: The front five horses in the Kentucky Derby were all EQB logarithmic velocity decay curve technology selections for that race!

Roulette Racing Wins Impressive Stakes Victory
EQB's client, Dr. Brian Hawkins and his Roulette Racing Team handily won the Texas Heritage Stakes by 2 1/2 lengths with Kentucky-bred Real Appeal. The three year old grey colt is by Successful Appeal out of a Diablo mare and was purchased by EQB for Dr. Hawkins at auction last spring for $47,000. Trained by Thomas M. Amoss, with James Graham in the irons, he was forced out on the first turn then raced three wide until he drew off in the late stretch! This win followed Real Appeal's near miss in the Grade II Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes at Churchill Downs, where he lost by less than two lengths. After breaking last, the colt was 4 wide for 6 furlongs until swinging 8 wide for the final 2 1/2 furlongs!

EQB Acts as Expert Witness
On February 3, 2008, the results of the Suwannee Stakes were challenged. The challenged winner had not carried its jockey in the post parade or in the warm-up to the starting gate and then won by a neck. EQB, as an expert witness, was asked to provide a scientific basis for the challenge and the ruling announced March 19 was that the challenge was upheld.

Speedy EQB Pick is Multiple Stakes Winner
The Florida-bred colt Sok Sok, purchased at auction as a yearling for $24,000, earned the second-highest Beyer Speed figure for a two year old in 2007 - a 109! The colt, by Trippi out of the Great Above mare Vaca Sagrado is trained by Steve Asmussen.
